Lodhi Garden, in South Delhi is spread over 90 acres and has Mohammed Shah's tomb, Sikander Lodi's tomb, Sheesh Gumbad and Bada Gumad. A beautiful park, over the weekend it is an ideal picnic spot for families looking for a day out in the open. Mishti is a regular visitor to the park and we do manage to go for picnics almost every month. She enjoys the open spaces and the greenery, perfect for a game of football or simply just having a run. The icing on the cake are the ducks, found in abundance in the park. If you enjoy walking and are game for some time out with your family away from the claustrophobic mall culture, then this is the place for you.

Kartaniya Ghat Trip

Kartaniya Ghat, on the Indo-Nepal border near Bahraich is an undiscovered gem. No commercial resorts blaring bollywood numbers, no tiger touts promising you a 'tiger spotting' and no tiger safaris, it is truly a paradise.

March to October months are the best for tiger spotting but in case you haven't been able to spot the elusive tiger, worry not as the ambience will more than make up for it.

We had gone in December in foggy and  bone chilling cold and stayed at Tharu Huts. And if you are game for a round of boating, then you can cross over river Gherua and reach Nepal side.
The Nepal side of the sanctuary boasts of rhinos and elephants, although we didn't dare go as the deputy forest office warned us of elehpants rampaging the villages.
However all in all a memorable experience something which we will surely repeat. A must visit for nature lovers, a word of caution though, before packing your bags, do remember to get your reservations done with the forest office at bahraich or lucknow.
Don't miss the now getting extinct vulture on the tree in the background
